Concluded RSMET unit

Throughout the first semester studying Research Methods I have learnt many valuable aspects to consider when using research to enforce certain arguments.
These involve many personnel opinions which, in some cases can be biased and very one sided. But now that I have studied this topic I can understand how to step back and look upon the research that has been made by others and discuss it from a neutral point of view. This will be very beneficial to me for the rest of my time at university as within my third year I will be conducting a dissertation (research collected by me).

This topic has helped me identify many new techniques on how to analysis data, how to critique other researchers' projects and also how to approach a research topic myself.

Overall I feel that the Research Methods unit has allowed me to comment on various factors of the unit and that it has been helpful for me to comment on how I feel about some topics we studied in a lecture we had.
Also the ability to read other students’ work has made me feel more comfortable in submitting my work as it has in some cases, ensured me that I am working along the ‘right tracks’. It has assisted me not to get too distracted and go off topic.
Although there is always the cautious feeling that others can copy/adapt your hard work if you post it before them. But this is one of the drawbacks to the system which students have to accept. I do feel that there should have been submission dates for the weekly activities as it could have helped encourage students to log on and contribute to the discussions that very few of us were having.
Also submission dates would have been beneficial to me as there are a few weeks that I allowed to accumulate as there was no defined date for it to be submitted until the 10th of January 2011.

My personal Research Methods blog

It is very bad on my behalf that I have not realised that my own personal blog was needed as apart of this RSMET unit coursework.

I can now only attempt to catch up and post what I can in order to reflect on the lecture weeks that I attended.
